2022 Quiltmas Spectacular Roundup from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

To borrow a phrase from Miracle on 34th Street, “Quiltmas isn’t just a day, it’s a frame of mind.” Even though we’ve already shared all the blocks from the 2022 Quiltmas Spectacular, we’re celebrating Quiltmas all month long.

Haven’t heard of Quiltmas? Twelve pattern designers come together to create 12 free quilt blocks celebrating the holiday season! Every day between December 1st and 12th, the Quiltmas elves delivered a new, free block pattern. Stitch up every block for a holiday celebration quilt or choose your favorite to turn into pillows or wall ...

Final Project Finishes for 2021! from Angel Scraps Quilting

Here are a couple of final finished quilts for 2021.

First of all is the doll quilt I started over a year ago.  I finally finished it and gave it as a Christmas gift, along with a doll, to a granddaughter.

Project number two is a Christmas quilt made in the same string quilt pattern that I have made several quilts from this past year.  The only difference is the fabric placement and using the same fabrics in the same places in all the blocks.  It makes a completely different looking quilt.

Here is the back.  I used what I ...

The 2021 Quiltmas Spectacular from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Quiltmas 2021_ Blog Header

To paraphrase Buddy the Elf, “The best way to spread Quiltmas cheer is quilting loud for all to hear." And while we may have just shared our last of the daily blocks for Quiltmas 2021, that just means that now we have time to catch up on our Quiltmas quilting!

Not familiar with Quiltmas? It’s a fun kickoff to the holiday season, like a shortened advent calendar, where every day from December 1st through the 12th a new festive quilt block is delivered to your inbox. And the best part is that each block is designed by a different ...

Sew Thankful Sunday, December 2021 from The Crafty Quilter

{I love the idea of “paying it forward”. I think the world would be a better place if we could spread some joy and acknowledgement of good deeds done by others. I try to do that once a month for my Sew Thankful Sunday posts. I highlight some great content that I’ve found on other people’s blogs that I hope will inspire you and reward the originator by bringing traffic to their site. If your blog has been mentioned without your consent, please let me know and I will take you off the current list of featured bloggers ...

Christmas sewing & Nordic Star correction from The Crafty Quilter

Does is feel like time is flying and Christmas is right around the corner? It is for me! I have been doing a little Christmas sewing in between other, larger, commitments. I’ll show you my latest Christmas finish and then keep reading for information on a pattern correction for the Nordic Star Table Runner.

Christmas Sewing

I finished the All The Trimmings Mystery quilt top from Fat Quarter Shop. This was a free sew along with downloadable patterns that you can find here. I love love love how it turned out! I used fabric from the Christmas Morning collection ...

16 Christmas gifts to sew from The Crafty Quilter

Today I have ideas for 16 Christmas gifts to sew that are quick and easy! This year is whizzing by and the countdown to the holidays is right around the corner. Now is the perfect time to make a list of Christmas gifts to sew that are fast and easy.

First on my list to make is an easy flannel scarf using Mammoth Flannel by Robert Kaufman Fabrics. They have a free blanket scarf pattern that looks unbelievably easy. Last year I bought six different colors of that flannel and never got around to making the scarves. I’m hoping ...

A Rustic Christmas Quilt / "I Spy Quilt" from Angel Scraps Quilting

This post is linked to the following linky parties:  From Bolt to Beauty, Alycia Quilts, and Quilting is More Fun Than Housework.

This is my second Christmas quilt finish of the year!  I have been able to continue making quilts using this same pattern, using only what I have on hand.  I have only purchased quilt battings in the year 2021.  This means that I have purchased no new fabric to supplement what I have on hand, nor any backing fabrics.

This quilt is being made for a family whose home has a cabin feel and I was thinking these ...

BAKING BOAS from Kwilty Pleasures

Have you seen the trendy BAKING BOAS?
I received this one for Christmas last year
from my partner in crimes of fabric, yarn, travel and wine.
Kathy Guenther!
She also knows I am a Christmas Baking fool.

I just love it!
She found this one at Lehman’s in Oho Amish Country.

Many specialty / botique type stores carry these in many themes.
Calahans in Calabash, NC had these Nautical BOAs
The store BOAs are made of the thinner, flatter cotton towels and
it looks like they have 2 towels per BOA.
Retail costs between $20-$25

I knew I could ...

A Small 2021 Finish and 2021 Quilty Plans from Angel Scraps Quilting

Good morning and happy 2nd day of January, 2021!

Being home all day on a rainy first day of January, 2021, I was able to complete a small project from start to finish!  I am calling it a Christmas Tree Rug.  The place we normally place our tree is a small corner right by a doorway that we pass through constantly that leads to and from the kitchen and living room.  Our artificial tree is not a very big tree and fits that spot perfectly.

However, a traditional "tree skirt" is too big for the space and I feel like ...

SANTA NEVER LOOKED SEW GOOD from Kwilty Pleasures

I really love this vintage Santa...its SWELL.
2020 didn't give me much to be happy about...
Sew I have collected the fabrics and the very large applique
and this will be on my radar for 2021.

Many of my quilty friends gave me fabrics and
I ordered some.

I am leaning toward this quilt.
I have the pattern.

But isn't this log cabin amazing?

I like the Scrappy Trip Around the World
but that's a LOT of seams!

But if you know me, you KNOW I love a Churn Dash.

I have some time to consider ...

One last braid table runner from Samelia's Mum

This afternoon, while watching a Christmas film on Netflix with my girl, I finished stitching down the binding on one last Christmas braid table runner.

I have really enjoyed making these runners these past few weeks. I haven't done much sewing lately, other than these and they've honestly been the perfect activity.

Christmas Mini Quilts from Samelia's Mum

This year, our Christmas decorating is quite minimal which means there is a lot that I hadn't re-discovered.

I had a morning at home this week and thought I'd have a little dig through one of my crates of Christmas decor. I like to pack up Christmas on Boxing Day (26th December) so it's always interesting to see what was hastily packed away (and where) from the previous year/s.

The crate I opened up contained a bunch of table runners, my big "A Wish Quilt" by Bronwyn Hayes (which I didn't get around to hanging ...

Batting Average? from From the Strawberry Patch...

I usually order my batting on thirty yard rolls and receive it, on average, within a week. That all came to a screeching halt a while back. The batting orders are running way (w-a-a-a-y) behind. I contacted the supplier that I use  as I was getting down to the last few yards and learned that there was at least a six week backlog~ yikes! I hadn't planned on that. A quick perusal around other sites

Finishing up Christmas from Stitchin at Home

I had a couple things to finish up for Christmas.

Shortbread cookies done! Some have coloured sugar and others have sprinkles
I haven't found a cookie press I like yet, tried one took it back. The next best thing is to roll them out and use a cookie cutter. The recipe is the one in my Virtual Cookie Exchange, you can find it here.

14 straw sleeves. The labels have their names and what they are as there will be someone who has no idea what they are
This one started out simple enough, my oldest grandson wanted a ...

A Little Christmas Gift Sewing from Stitchin at Home

First up some Barbie doll clothes. One of my granddaughters is not too happy with her dad. She cleaned up her bedroom and put her doll clothes collection in a bag unbeknownst to her dad, who you may have already guessed what happened next. He put the bag in the trash. They were some big tears and angry words. So what's a grandma to do but help replace some of her collection and she could use everything including footwear.

Now let me tell you sewing Barbie clothes is not my idea of fun. They are so small turning those ...

Sunday This'n'That from Stitchin at Home

The first item up is a little Christmas sewing. The president of the quilt guild I belong too posted a photo of a Poinsettia Table Runner. I watched the you tube video and was off and running. I liked it and wanted to make one,  Sandra of mmm!quilts would call this a Dreami!

Poinsettia table topper

I decided what size I wanted, cut four of the main fabric, accent or backing and batting. There is a pattern I believe I didn't use it though. Stitched them together, turned, pressed and top stitched. Stitched down the four extra petals ...
